[01] Selvedge jeans
After about a year of obsessing over the details and going through 12 prototypes, this is where I landed.
They're made from 12.5 oz Japanese selvedge denim, with hardware inspired by old Levi's. I used a poly-core cotton thread; it has the strength of polyester but keeps the look and fade of cotton.
One thing I really cared about was the construction: no raw edges anywhere. Every seam is fully enclosed, so the inside is just as clean as the outside.
My favorite detail is the one-piece fly, which lets the selvedge ID show through. It's a construction that was patented back in 1877 to reinforce a stress point and simplify production, but you almost never see it now. I reworked it to function with a zipper, which as far as I know hasn't really been done before.
It has a relaxed fit that hugs the seat, stays easy through the thigh, and tapers slightly toward the leg opening.
